Who I am

My name is Jo. I live in the English countryside with my partner Charlie, my daughter E, my dogs Dooley, Digby and Zoey, and an assortment of other creatures who live in the nooks and crannies of our crooked, thousand year old cottage.

I've been a fitness professional, a carer for horses and dogs, a health food journalist, Reiki practitioner (still am that one, working on my Reiki Master training), shamanic student, and fundraiser/marketer for an animal charity.

Put all that in a big pot along with my love for animals, my deep animist connection with nature, and my mile-wide spiritual streak and what emerges is this blog.

My maverick healer side is about plant-based eating and faith in movement to strengthen and heal our bodies. My magic is mindful communion with nature. If I'm not home then I'm consulting with trees and talking to the moon.

I like to meld the old ways with the new, to listen to the land, to practice vibrational healing, to love my physical body by moving it and tattooing it, to let food be my medicine and medicine be my food (to paraphrase Hippocrates), and to understand my place as a human, equal to all other species, on this beautiful planet.

I am a lover of simple ritual, mostly of my own creation, living with one foot on the earth and one foot in the Otherworld.

'No matter where we are, the shadow that trots behind us is definitely four-footed.'
